Blu needed someone who could understand him, and I knew that person was me.

Life story

Blu came to me as a year-and-a-half-old dog who had been abused. He was skittish around other animals and especially around men, and he was quick to bite. I believe he had been handled roughly around the neck or by his collar.

I knew he would not survive in a shelter program, and that most people would not put up with his behavior. Anyone else might have given up on him and had him put down because of how he had been treated and how aggressive he had become.

So I took him on. Through nearly six years of guiding him, loving him, and working through the hard days, Blu learned to trust me. He is still an anxious dog, but he has become a sweet, loving boy.
